Your portfolio in KANAP in ten minutes¶
Explore with the example · Start with my own data
In ten minutes, a first request is scored and converted into a project, the project has its first tasks and its budget, and your contributor profile is ready for planning. Starting with your own data erases the example: what you see at the end comes from you.
These are the five steps of the Your first five steps tile on the home page, for the path Projects and requests with Start with my own data. Each step in the tile opens its screen with a short hint. Click Done in the hint, or the mark next to the step, once you have done it. See Trial: your path and first steps.
1. Your first request¶
Portfolio > Requests
What to do. Click New request, type its name in the title and press Enter. Answer each criterion in the Scoring tab. Set its status to Approved, then click Convert to project and Create project.
What you see. The request exists as soon as it has a name, with the status Pending review and you as the requestor. The score is recomputed at each answer. The criteria and their weights are set in Portfolio > Settings, Scoring criteria tab: adapt them once, they apply to every request. After the conversion, the request shows Converted.
2. Your project¶
The project of your request, opened by the step
What to do. Complete its owners and project team in the properties panel, then open the Timeline and Effort tabs.
What you see. The project keeps the request it comes from under Relations. Timeline holds its phases, which you can start from a phase template. Effort sets its progress against the effort planned and consumed.
3. The first tasks¶
Portfolio > Tasks
What to do. Click New, create a task and link it to the project. Assign it to yourself and add a comment. Change its status, and log time with Log time.
What you see. The task in the list and on the project's Tasks tab. The time you log counts in the project's effort.
4. The project's budget¶
The project's Relations tab, opened by the step
What to do. Under budget lines, link one or more lines to the project. A line that does not exist yet is created in Budget management > Budget lines with New line.
What you see. Each linked line with its amount for the year, so the project's costs show on its record.
5. Your contributor profile¶
Portfolio > Contributors, your own profile, opened by the step
What to do. Set your team and your Project availability. No team yet? Create one in Portfolio > Settings, Teams tab.
What you see. The portfolio plans with contributors: their team and the days per month they give to projects feed the capacity reports.
